Jessica Lustbader and Dan Maloy
Meet newly engaged couple Jessica Lustbader and Dan Maloy!
Jessica Lustbader and Dan Maloy may have gotten engaged at a famous Midwestern landmark — under the St. Louis Arch — but Lustbader always knew she wanted to tie the knot in the Hudson Valley. “It was really important for me to have the Hudson River, those views and all that Hudson Valley stuff right at my venue,” she says. The couple will wed on May 11, 2013 at the Dutchess Manor in Beacon, a historic mansion perched on a hill, with sweeping views of the river.
The pair, who have been dating for two years, met online on the eHarmony dating site. “They matched us, we did the whole email back and forth thing. The rest is history,” says Lustbader, a Newburgh native who is currently an athletic trainer in the sports medicine department at Vassar College. She recalls that she and Maloy, the vault manager at Brink’s (armored cars) in Albany, went on their first date one evening in Poughkeepsie, then spoke on the phone after they got home. Ultimately, they decided to get together again the following day. “I drove all the way out to Millerton and we went on the rail trail for, like, three hours. Our dogs were ready to pass out, but we kept walking and walking and talking and talking,” she says.
While they had discussed marriage, Lustbader was caught completely off-guard when Maloy popped the question. The pair were in St. Louis for an athletic training conference when Maloy asked her if she would change anything about their relationship. Lustbader couldn’t think of much, but Maloy said he wanted to change his girlfriend’s last name — and whipped out “a beautiful” ring. “He had spoken to my parents a month prior. He was cute about it; he’s a cutsie kind of guy.”
“They were fabulous,” she says. “I’ve done a lot of it already. I’m just really excited now.” Visit their wedding Web site at www.lustbadermaloywedding.com.
