4 Hudson Valley Beer Gardens You Need to Try

Beer gardens abound

No point in denying it: It’s August, and as hot as Hades. So it’s no wonder a plethora of restaurants are opening outdoor beer gardens, which often take the form of a shaded pavilion with outdoor seating where drinks and comfort food are served. We cheered when Billy Joe’s Ribworks in Newburgh opened theirs in June (read about it here), and at press time the Falcon in Marlboro was hard at work constructing a new deck overlooking the Marlboro Falls which will be used for similar purposes. Here are a few other spots to check out:

Schatzi’s Pub and Bier Garden
Potown’s newest hot spot takes its beer so seriously, customers are encouraged to select food based on which brew it pairs with best.

The City Beer Hall
Along with a delightful outdoor area, this Albany hub serves a free (yes, free!) personal pizza to anyone ordering a drink that costs more than four dollars (daily except Sundays).

Keegan Ales
While not a beer garden per se, the king of Kingston beer does have a small outdoor space where customers can sit and nibble on munchies.

Gunk Haus
The beer garden at this traditional Bavarian eatery offers stunning views of the Shawangunks.
