Graceland Tattoo and Mill House Brewing Company to Host Inaugural Tattoos and Brews Event

Talk about a beer pairing! There’s fun for all when these two businesses come together

For 12 years, Graceland Tattoo in Wappingers Falls has been one of the go-to studios for the Hudson Valley’s creative (and sanitary) ink and piercing needs. Since 2013, Mill House Brewing Company, set in Poughkeepsie’s old Mill House, has been an alluring hangout for the likes of Köld One Pilsners and fried pickle chips. On August 30, Graceland owner, Adam Lauricella, and Mill House proprietor and general manager, Chris Crocco, will join forces to present Tattoos and Brews at the restaurant.

“Chris is a client here, and we thought it would be a good idea to create a cool event like this. Our business models are different, yet we are both in hospitality and our spaces have similar vibes. We’re making tattoos and they’re making beers; they are both art forms,” says Lauricella. “But if you’re going to hold an event that showcases local businesses, it really also should support the community. It just makes sense.”

It costs $20 to partake in the all-day event, and proceeds benefit the Grace Smith House, the Poughkeepsie non-profit that aids victims of domestic violence. Ten tattoo artists from parlors around the region, including Forget Me Not Tattoo in Woodstock and Hudson River Tattoo in Hudson, will be on-site, ready to work their needle magic on those souls eager for a new (or first-time) design.

For those who don’t wish to wield fresh ink, entertainment comes in the form of low-key acoustic music performances. In between sipping Mill House’s own brews and Hillrock Estate’s bourbon from Ancram, barbers from Pugsly’s old-world barber shop in Kingston can give you a trim; guests can also ogle the well-crafted leather footwear from Schenectady-based Last Gentleman Company.
