The Wedding Guru says: Traditionally, the bride’s family is seated on the left side of the aisle and the groom’s on the right. Today, many couples instruct their ushers to seat people “evenly” on both sides. This kind of seating allows you and your husband’s family and guests to meet one another. That seems like a nice idea, but the final decision is, of course, up to you. I say to do whatever feels right to both of you!
