Farm-Sourced Fleishers to Close Kingston Shop

Stock up before we say goodbye on March 18.

Sad news for Hudson Valley carnivores: After 13 years of business, Fleishers Craft Butchery will officially be closing the doors of its flagship Kingston shop this March.

The Fleishers team, who were pioneers of the craft butchery movement — combining the traditional art of butchery with modern ideals of local sourcing and sustainability — in our region, decided to pack it up last month after learning the shop’s historic location had been put up for sale. Their last day in business will be March 18.

Sophie Grant, who directs the Marketing division, says the closure is “not a hard goodbye, but more of a see you later.” They’re using this as an opportunity to focus more on their stores in Brooklyn, Westport, CT, and Greenwich, CT, as well as the opening of a Manhattan location this August. In the meantime, they are encouraging customers to stop in, stock up on their favorite custom cuts and farm-sourced products, and say some goodbyes.

According to Grant, the 18th will be a day of “eating and embracing the community... to commemorate the last 13 years, the closure, and — hopefully — a bright future.” Visiting patrons can expect local beer, food, and an auction to benefit the local community wellness nonprofit, O+positive.
