Here's Where to Shop This Small Business Saturday

You may be tempted to dip into Black Friday deals, but shop small this holiday season and your community will thank you.

Black Friday shopping at big box stores sure sounds tempting if you’re looking to save this holiday season. But we've all heard about the crazy-long lines and 6 a.m. horror stories where every year someone nearly loses a limb. So before you set your alarm extra early for Friday morning, we’re here to tell you that there’s a better solution — and it’s trample-free. Shop local this Small Business Saturday, and you’ll not only conquer your holiday gift list, but also give back to your community. These local vendors are just a few of the many local shops participating, and this year, the sales are big.

Stray from the masses at Woodbury Commons this weekend and shop over 30 of your favorite local vendors at the 6th annual Small Business Saturday Shop Hop in Cornwall. Then stroll through the Sugar Loaf Art & Craft Village for giveaways, refreshments, and locally crafted gifts.

Mark the start of the holiday season with a memorable trip to Historic Huguenot Street, but before you leave, be sure to check out the Museum Shop for 15% off your purchase on Saturday and 25% off on Sunday (valid for online orders, too!).

Head to Surviving Sisters Boutique in Hyde Park for daylong deals and events, including a free gift with purchase, $10 off your next trip, and a special appearance by local fashion designer, Jasmine Terry-Ankobil of Ladiecloth. And if you’re in the market for a new grill, believe it or not, but the best time to buy is now. Automatic Appliance in Fishkill is offering $50 off three high-end grill models, so you can cook up Christmas dinner with some added char.

Shop for literally everyone on your list at the Artisan Market in Cold Spring. The holiday gift fair will feature locally curated crafts including jewelry, woodwork, ceramics, candles, soaps, treats, and more. While you’re there, peruse the many shops on Main Street for deals and great finds to guarantee a happy holiday for even your pickiest recipient.

Local vendors, rejoice! Tom Ossa of Rockland Web Design and the North Rockland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will be offering fee setup for promotional materials, so you too can get in on the best of Small Business Saturday savings. And to make the shopping deals even sweeter, the Nyack Chamber of Commerce will be offering free village-wide parking every weekend through December 31.
