Jones Farm

Try: Carrot cake

With produce fresh from the farm, the baked goods at Jones Farm are as local as it gets. Seasonal eating is the secret to success here. Think blueberry crumb tea bread in summer, apple cider donut bread pudding in fall, and pumpkin nut bread in winter. As far as savory bread goes, the farm stocks family favorites like cranberry walnut rolls, corn bread, and buttermilk biscuits. Whatever you do, don’t step foot off the grounds before indulging in a slice of the deadly carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. It’s the most popular item on the menu for a reason.

LaLima’s Bakery

Try: Prosciutto bread

LaLima’s is the real deal. The quaint Monroe bakery is old school eating at its finest. With dozens of breakfast pastries and specialty breads, visitors won’t know where to begin. Our recommendation? Start with the gourmet loaves. They’re baked fresh daily and come in drool-worthy flavors like white chocolate, jalapeno, and even prosciutto. After that, treat yourself to a cannoli, one of the shop’s specialties. Each one is filled upon order, which means they are always as fresh as it gets.
