Apr. 2-3: Trout Weekend Learn all about these Eastern North American and Canadian native fish and their habitat here in the Hudson Valley. Try your hand at feeding these feisty guys, create a brook trout craft to take home, and participate in activities like story time. 12-4 p.m. $3, free for members. Soul Train

Apr. 9: Disney’s Choo Choo Soul with Genevieve! Both the kiddies and parents will enjoy this cool duo. Join conductor Genevieve and her hip hop engineer as they re-imagine classic ditties like the ABCs and 1-2-3s, all while teaching the importance of being polite to others. The Disney show was honored with a Parents’ Choice Award for children’s television. 11 a.m. & 3 p.m. $20. Little Adventures

Apr. 17: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Little Cloud, and the Mixed-up Chameleon Award-winning illustrator and writer Eric Carle’s children’s books are retold onstage using a blacklight. The stories follow the adventures of a hungry little caterpillar as he munches his way to becoming a beautiful butterfly; the Little Cloud transforms into the shapes of the various things it sees; and — fed up with his predictable existence — the Mixed-Up Chameleon visits the zoo to try to change into the different animals he meets. Fairy Tale Favorites

Apr. 23 & 30: Tales of Hans Christian Andersen This author’s most beloved stories come to life at the Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck. The Tin Soldier tells of his undying love for a dancing paper doll; a dilapidated old crate yields the comic tale of the Ugly Duckling; and the Little Mermaid concludes the show with her whirlwind romance with a human. 11 a.m. $9, $7 children. Dance the Day Away

Apr. 29-May 1: Sesame Street Live: Let’s Dance! The characters from Sesame Street are ready to boogie! Kids can dance along with Elmo as he does the robot, the Cookie Monster teaches the audience some of his best moves, and Ernie shares the fun with the Sesame Street favorite “Shake Your Head One Time.” Audience members are encouraged to get up and move with the crew.
