25 More Things Every Hudson Valleyite Must Do!
Back in 2007, we told you about 20 local activities — from dining at the CIA to taking a swim in the Hudson — that help separate true Valleyites from the out-of-town tourists and weekend wannabes. 23. Sample wine at a Valley vineyard
The oldest wine-making region in the country, the Valley is home to more than 40 wine producers — and the quality of their vintages rivals what’s produced on Long Island and in the Finger Lakes. From “traditional” wines like Chardonnay (Millbrook) and Cabernet (Benmarl) to fruit liqueurs and hard ciders (Warwick Valley) and dessert offerings (Strawberry Wine from Baldwin Vineyards), there’s a wine to suit every palate. Looking for something new? Try Clinton Vineyards Desire blackberry wine, or the Candy Ass Red from Glorie Farm Winery, which is made with Concord grapes.
