Want to win tickets to our Best Of Hudson Valley Party on October 15th? Each week, we’ll ask a totally random Best Of-themed question. Submit your answer in the form below to enter our drawing — we’ll select a new winner every week leading up to the party. Good luck!
Previous Contest Questions
Week 4 question: Each year, we ask our readers to nominate a new category that may otherwise not be on the Best Of Hudson Valley ballot. (We call it the “Readers’ Choice” award.) Name the winner of this year’s “Readers’ Choice” (hint: you’ll find it under “Readers’ Picks” in the Food & Drink section) to enter our drawing. Good luck!
Week 4 winner: Aimee Leopold, Hopewell Junction: “Apple cider doughnuts at Tantillo’s Farm Market in Gardiner. Now I know that this is a legitimate category, I will need to sample all the apple cider doughnuts, or just all doughnuts, throughout the Hudson Valley so that I can add my expert opinion for next year’s vote!”
Editor’s note: This is, perhaps, one of the best plans we’ve ever heard. Let us know if you need company during your Great Hudson Valley Doughnut Tour, Aimee!
Week 3 question: This year-old music venue — which nabbed an Editors’ Pick for “Best Addition to the Nightlife Scene” — was established by one-half of the 1970s and ’80s rock duo, Hall & Oates. It currently calls Pawling home. Name the establishment (hint: look here!) to enter this week’s drawing.
Week 3 winner: Nancy Christian, Monroe: “Daryl’s House. Great food and music. Watch out boy, she’ll chew you up, she’s a man-eater!”
Editor’s note: Not only did Nancy’s number get pulled from our magic sorting hat (thanks, Random.org), but she sang Hall & Oates lyrics to us — instant brownie points for the Friday-morning serenade. We’ve also got to give a special shout out to Kimberly Ryan of Kingston, who says: “Been watching the television program since it started. Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls was one of my favorite guests on the show, and he taught Daryl how to make Buffalo wings!” Here’s a clip of the episode with Chef Rzeznik in case you missed it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjCZM1IVlyU
Week 2 question: This is an easy one: name this year’s official Best Of Hudson Valley Charity Partner. (Hint: click here to find the answer.)
Week 2 winner: Jeannie Zapanta, Wappingers Falls: “Abilities First (and what a wonderful thing... to partner with a charity for this amazing event!”
Editor’s note: We think so, too, Jeannie — especially since Abilities First is such an incredible organization! A not-for-profit that stresses compassion, empowerment, and respect for others, it offers educational, vocational, and habilitation services for those with developmental abilities from pre-school to adulthood. Ultimately, it aims to help those with disabilities (and their families) attain independence, self-determination, integration, and acceptance.

Week 1 question: Rejoice! September 18 was National Cheeseburger Day. During this year’s Best Of Hudson Valley Ballot, we asked readers to vote for the “Best Burger” in the Hudson Valley. Let’s get specific: What’s your pick for “Best Cheeseburger?” (Must be local!)
Week 1 winner: Eileen Gertzkis, Chester: “Mill House Brewing pastrami burger. I tried every burger at the Burger & Beer Bash and this was the BEST!”
Editor’s note: Hear, hear. Not only did Mill House wow our Burger & Beer Bash guests this year with their “Triple Threat” burger — a jalapeño cheddar ranch slider with house-made bacon, Cajun pastrami, lettuce, and roasted tomato cream cheese (at right) — but it nabbed this year’s Best Of Hudson Valley Readers’ Pick award for “Best Burger,” too. Best burger AND cheeseburger? These guys must know what they’re doing.
