The Ghent Playhouse presents “A View from the Bridge,” a classic America tragedy by celebrated playwright Arthur Miller, directed by Aaron Holbritter. This landmark drama has timely themes concerning family, immigration and the American Dream. “A View from the Bridge” runs March 29-April 14. Tickets are on sale now at

When a working class family in Brooklyn learns of the destitution of their two immigrant cousins, they take them in. When one of the cousins falls for the family’s young niece, an unspeakable secret is exposed. This drives longshoreman Eddie Carbone to commit the ultimate betrayal, thus testing the limits of family bonds and personal honor.

“Each year, when figuring out which plays we are going to present, we try to pick something for everyone: a drama, a comedy, a classic, sometimes a musical,” explained Artistic Director Cathy Lee-Visscher. “We selected ‘A View from the Bridge’ because it is such a classic–It gets revived a lot. In fact, it won the Tony Award for Best Revival three times!”

Miller, who wrote the groundbreaking “Death of a Salesman” and “The Crucible,” said that the plot for “A View from the Bridge” developed from a true story a lawyer who worked with longshoremen related to him.

Director Aaron Hilbritter he has been at the helm of several productions including "Lost in Yonkers,” “Proof,” “The Weir” (at Ghent Playhouse 2016), and "Sherlock Holmes, the Final Adventure” - voted the #2 Best Show of 2013 by Times Union readers.
