ousBANNERMAN ISLAND TOURS
Discover the mystery and explore the history of Bannerman Island and it's mysterious castle that travelers see while on the Hudson River trains that pass. Built by Frank Bannerman VI from 1901 to 1918 as a warehouse to explore his antique collection of military equipment. The island featured seven buildings that made up the castle, including a family residence and a worker apartment. The castle burned in 1969 and left the shell you see today.
The Bannerman Castle Trust and NYS Parks offer guided tours of the island from May through October, onboard the RV Estuary Steward that cruise to Bannerman Island. The tour includes the cruise to the island, a guided tour with a BCT historian, a walk through the restored gardens and trails. The Estuary Steward is the only boat on the river that stops on Bannerman Island. 2.5 hours. Departs from Beacon on Saturday at 11 am and 12:30pm, and Sunday departing from Blu Point Dock in Newburgh at 11 am and from the Beacon Institute Dock at 12:30 pm
