HUDSON – Columbia-Greene Community College will hold a Veterans Day ceremony and celebration on campus Tuesday, Nov. 12, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Arts Center Theatre.
VFW Post 5933 of Ghent, N.Y., will be on-hand for the presentation of colors, and Rick Howland of American Legion Post 0184 in Hudson, N.Y., will provide a prayer of remembrance and closing benediction.
Speakers will include Kevin Kropp, U.S. Navy Veteran and C-GCC Veterans Affairs Task Force Committee Chair; C-GCC’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs George Timmons, Ph.D.; Brian Leaver, U.S. Coast Guard Veteran and C-GCC Student Veterans Club President; Tabitha Borowsky, U.S. Army Veteran and C-GCC Student Veteran Club Vice President; Cynthia White, U.S. Army Veteran and C-GCC Account Clerk, and Marty Torrey, U.S. Navy Commander (Ret.) Veteran and CEO of Corridor America LLC, based in Clifton Park, N.Y.
A complimentary lunch for all veterans will follow from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., in the HRBT Foundation Student Dining Hall in the main building. C-GCC faculty, administrators, and staff will provide guest services, and the college’s Radio Club will provide music.
The day will conclude with the 22 Push-up Challenge, a national initiative designed to bring awareness to veteran-related mental illness and suicide.
