Description

John Grady, teacher and professional drummer will facilitate this Drum Circle Workshop. This fun and educational workshop is open for children and adults ages 7 and up. Drums will be provided for participates to work in a circle of 30.
Drumming is a fun way to strengthen concentration, heighten clarity, and sharpen listening, memory and social skills. It also helps to promote cultural awareness and community bonding.
A drum circle is a small or large gathering of people that drum together. It is a demographically diverse gathering of people from multi- ethnic backgrounds celebrating life through drumming in a communal setting. The beauty of it is that all level, from the beginner to the master percussionist, and the curious, to moms, kids and the elderly are welcome, and encouraged to participate by rhythmically expressing themselves. Each individual expression contributes to the group as a whole, resulting in a powerful, harmonious communal event.
Participants experience a sense of empowerment when their individual expression contributes to the group. They realize that they don’t have to be musicians to make music. Everyone is part of the entertainment instead of being entertained. Registration is suggested
