Sept 8 - Sept 23, Opening Reception: Sept, 8, 1-4pm
Suzanna Frosch started off as a fiber artist focused on the architectonic elements of woven cloth. She pursued a career as a textile designer, working for such notable firms as Brunschwig & Fils, Calvin Klein and Donna Karan. While Frosch has moved away from the loom, she has taken with her the vocabulary of a weaver. In both her collage, photography and sculptural work, one can see the apparent patterns, layers and textures of a weaver while still creating space and depth. In Excavated Fragments she builds surfaces suggestive of nature’s inherent symmetry, awkward incongruities and precarious balances. These excavated fragments mark the passage of time and possess their own narratives, each a silent reminder of their personal history.
