Performance at Town Crier Café
to Benefit MusicLink Scholarship at DCC
The Music School at Dutchess Community College will host a performance to benefit the MusicLink Scholarship Fund, which provides free or low-cost music lessons to local students who otherwise could not afford them. The Music School is part of the College’s Office of Community Services.
The show will be held June 13 at the Towne Crier Café in Beacon and begin at 7 p.m. Acclaimed guitarist and former DCC Music School teacher Helen Avakian will lead the event and be joined by guitarist Mark Sganga (who along with Avakian is an international fingerstyle guitar champion), DCC Music School teacher and classical guitarist extraordinaire Dan Stevens and saxophone player and international performer Dr. Christopher Brellochs, who is chair of DCC’s Music Performance Certificate program. They will play original pieces and popular songs in many styles, both as soloists and in groups. Additionally, a group of advanced Music School guitar, vocal, bass, ukulele and saxophone students will perform a few songs as the Guitar Party Ensemble.
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 at www.townecrier.com or at the door for $20. For more information about the show or available sponsorship opportunities, contact Music School at DCC Director Laura G. Doe at (845) 431-8916 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
