High Five! Talking, Singing, Reading, Writing, Playing with Your Child Fall 2019!

Oct 12, 2019 to Oct 26, 2019
11:00 AM until 01:00 PM

This event occurs weekly, on Saturday.

The Hudson Area Library and Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood are proud to announce High Five!, our 3-week early literacy family program. This program meets at the library Saturdays, 11am – 1pm, October 12, 19, & 26, 2019. Our new fall session includes “Fall Family Activities and Vocabulary for your Child”,  “Developing Fine Motor Skills Needed for Writing” and includes a trip to an apple orchard and a Halloween party curated by master storyteller Pamela Badila.

Each week the program begins with Story Time in the library with High Five! facilitator Alyssa Moore and special guest readers. Crafts and literacy activities, with an emphasis on dictated writing, follow. Families will engage in discussion and  have the opportunity to explore the hundreds of high-quality children’s books available for check-out at the library. Participants will receive free books and prizes each week. Gift certificates to Spotty Dog books will be awarded to all families with excellent attendance! Lunch is also provided and we will be emphasizing healthy foods that kids like to eat. This project has been supported by a grant from the Fund for Columbia County of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.

Transportation to the library is available upon request. To register for High Five!, email, call 518-828-1792 x101, or stop by the desk at the Hudson Area Library. This program is free and open to all families with children five and under (older siblings are also welcome to attend), and is wheelchair accessible.
