1,000+ STUDENTS TO BATTLE FOR ROBOT DOMINATION AT ROCKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE
NYC FIRST® Hosts Inaugural Hudson Valley Regional Robotics Competition
Leading Up to World Championship Tournament
WHAT: Student-built robots will take over Rockland Community College on Saturday and Sunday, March 25-26, as more than one thousand local and international student teams compete in the Inaugural Hudson Valley Regional (HVR) FIRST Robotics Competition and Expo. The highly-anticipated, two-day tournament brings a series of high-stake, high-intensity robotic competitions under one roof. The event is free and open to the public.
High school students will go head-to-head in designated challenges, as teams vie for the chance to move on to the FIRST World Championship Tournament in St. Louis on April 26-29.
WHO: 47 teams – approximately 1,200 high school students (ages 16-18) – from the US, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, India, Turkey and the United Kingdom. Five of these teams are local competitors from Carmel High School, Clarkstown North High School, New Rochelle High School, Ossining High School, and Yonkers High School.

o FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) qualification and playoff matches
o Final awards ceremony at 4:30pm
