Quick: How many summer theater groups can you name that use the Hudson River and its Highlands as a backdrop? We can think of just one: the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. For the 27th summer, this energetic and inventive troupe performs a trifecta of plays on the beautiful grounds of the Boscobel mansion: the Bard’s searing tragedy King Lear (directed by Founding Artistic Director Terrence O’Brien) and the bittersweet comedy All’s Well That Ends Well. The third production is a swashbuckling adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’s The Three Musketeers. All three plays are performed in repertory through Sept. 1.
