Music in the Stacks: Harmony Project Hudson

May 19, 2019
04:00 PM until 05:30 PM

The second in the Hudson Area Library’s five 2019 Music in the Stacks concerts features both the students and the instructors of Harmony Project Hudson. The afternoon performance highlights pop, rock, and jazz music. Instructors Eleni Reyes, violin, and Trish Almstead, recorder, lead the student group. Then instructors from Harmony Project Hudson perform including Executive Director Zoe Auerbach on violin and guitar and Cello Teacher Nick Edwards on cello and bass. Each concert is hosted by a Hudson youth organization and the library’s own Tween Advisory Council hosts the May 19 concert.

Harmony Project Hudson is an after school music program that targets underserved populations, partnering with the Hudson City School District, Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood and Hudson Hall.

Music in the Stacks is a series of free Sunday afternoon concerts featuring local and international artists throughout 2019 and hosted by Hudson area youth organizations. These concerts reflect a wide range of musical styles, genres, instruments and cultures; giving the community new musical experiences and opportunities for cultural exchange. Audience members receive cultural passports, which are stamped at each concert. Passports with the most stamps can be entered in a raffle for a gift certificate to a Hudson music venue. This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York, State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Greene County Council on the Arts.
