Celebrate Summer at the Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra’s Pops Concert “Sand and Surf”

RHINEBECK, NY – The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra (NDSO) welcomes summer with their “Sand and Surf” pops concert featuring hits from the Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, and Under the Sea from Disney’s The Little Mermaid. The program will also include Latin favorites The Girl from Ipanema and One Note Samba. Special guests include guitarist David Temple for Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo, and the New York University steel band. The NDSO pops concerts are always a fun and relaxing evening for the audience and musicians. This year the orchestra will forgo the traditional formal concert attire for sandals, Hawaiian shirts and beach apparel. Join us on Saturday, June 15th, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rhinebeck High School Auditorium in Rhinebeck, NY.

David Temple has performed throughout the country as a soloist, accompanist and ensemble player.  He is dedicated to presenting guitar performances that are full of color and variety. He says, “Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez is the most familiar classical guitar work because it is perhaps the most beautiful in the repertoire. Its brilliant and romantic themes, exciting rhythms and flamenco textures, and its challenging development and key changes become nearly hardwired into every aspiring guitarist’s ear – almost as if the piece were discovered rather than composed. It is an honor and a thrill to be performing this incredible work with the wonderful NDSO under the baton of Kathleen Beckmann.”

Tickets for the concert are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $5 for students. For more information or to buy tickets for the concert, click here or call 845-635-0877. The concert is located at the Rhinebeck High School Auditorium located at 45 N Park Rd, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.

The Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra was formed in 2006 to bring live orchestral music to northern Dutchess County and the surrounding Hudson Valley area. Now in its thirteenth season, the orchestra offers the best possible live performances of classical music at family-affordable prices. Since the beginning, the orchestra has been conducted by Kathleen Beckmann who also serves as artistic director.
