Freedom Park Hosts 12th Annual OrCA Music Festival—September 23rd

A fundraiser concert to benefit the Oral Cancer Awareness Foundation (OrCA)

LaGrangeville, NY, September 14th, 2017 — This year’s event will be back at Freedom Park, the most well respected outdoor venue in the Hudson Valley, and will be filled with blues, classic rock and funk Saturday, September 23rd. The footlights will shine on a fundraiser concert to benefit the Oral Cancer Awareness Foundation (OrCA) from 2pm-6pm.

The 12th Annual OrCA Music Festival ( will feature a total of four bands: Eric Wilson, Jamie Hamburg and Emma Ruchefsky, Little Rock (featuring Vito Petroccitto) and The OrCA Blues Band. One hundred percent of concert proceeds will be donated to OrCA—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to increasing awareness of the need for early detection of oral cancer, which kills one American every hour of every day.

“We’d love everyone to come on out to Freedom Park for an exciting day of music,” OrCA President Dr. Larry Hamburg said. Hamburg is a Stage IV cancer survivor, founder of OrCA (, and a member of the OrCA Blues Band. “We'll have great food, drinks, a raffle, kids activities and much more,” he said. “We also want to spread the message to friends and family about how vital it is for all adults to get an oral cancer screening every year.”

Hamburg noted that oral cancer is growing at double-digit rates, despite declines in alcohol and tobacco use. “The increase is due largely to the spread of the HPV Virus via all forms of sex, but particularly the oral sex vector,” he explained. “HPV is hitting hard in the young adult demographic. We know we can make a difference if we vaccinate against the HPV vaccine early and thus preventing oral cancer later on (as well as genital warts). Every dollar we raise helps us potentially save lives.”

Tickets are available at the gate, by calling (845) 483-9500 or visiting Hudson Valley Dental Arts, P.C., 715 Freedom Plains Road, LaGrange, NY (home of OrCA Foundation). Each ticket will also serve as a concert raffle ticket with a suggested donation of $10. First prize in the raffle is a weekend in New York City (valued at $1000). Other prizes include an Apple Watch Series 2 (valued at $400) and a gift basket to include ZOOM Brightening, free hygiene exam, x-rays and of course an oral cancer screening at Hudson Valley Dental Arts (

About OrCA

Through the use of speaking engagements in both public and professional areas, coupled with traditional and emerging media vehicles, OrCA works to educate about the use and application of early detection devices that are expected to decrease the morbidity and mortality rates of those diagnosed.

About Oral Cancer

Oral cancer is a secret killer. Its death rate actually is higher than cancers that routinely garner far more publicity, such as cervical cancer, Hodgkin's lymphoma, laryngeal cancer, cancer of the testes, endocrine system cancers (e.g., thyroid or malignant melanoma). If the definition of oral cancers is expanded to include cancer of the larynx, for which the risk factors are the same, the number of diagnosed oral cancer cases grows to more than 49,750 individuals, and 9,575 deaths annually just in the U.S.
