March 7, 2017 Pawling, New York – The Pawling Farmers Market opens Saturday, June 17 for the season, with extended hours, more vendors and more special programs delivering the finest fresh produce, specialty foods, cheese and wines the Hudson Valley has to offer. The market, now in its 10th season, will be open Saturdays through September 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with more than 38 vendors at the market situated on Pawling’s Historic Village Green.
This year will offer a variety of produce, locally roasted coffee from Dutchess Coffee Company, farm-fresh eggs, fruit, prepared food products, poultry, and more. New vendors such as Grape Hollow Farm, with fresh vegetables and pasture raised lamb. Returning favorites, such as Wave Hill Bread, Meadowland Farm, Chi Cho Hot Sauce, and Jacuterie (artisanal cured and fresh pork products). Trapani Orchards and Pawling Bread Company are also back. The market continues it’s robust artisan program with hand-made cutting boards, jewelry, pottery, and photography.
A petting zoo from Two by Two will help launch the season June 17, with a free-of-charge (donations appreciated) traveling zoo for Farmers Market visitors. The zoo will feature a kangaroo, goats, tortoise, pot-bellied pig—even a bearded dragon. The petting zoo will return to the Farmers Market (date TBA) , for those who want another opportunity to see them. Nick, the knife sharpener will be on hand once a month, to make sure all your blades are as sharp as can be. Each Saturday, musicians offer live performances. The Pawling Farmers Market is located immediately off Route 22 in the picturesque Village of Pawling on the newly renovated Village Green, surrounded by shops and restaurants, including The Book Cove (our long term sponsor) and McKinney & Doyle Fine Foods, among others. Plenty of free parking is available, and Metro North’s Harlem Line stops right in Pawling, less than a block from the market.
The Pawling Farmers Market continues the Hudson Valley’s long agricultural heritage, offering locally grown and produced fruits, vegetables, and other foods that support local growers and bring healthy food choices to visitors.
