Seed Library Kickoff and Seed Swap
Feb 8, 2018
06:30 PM until 08:30 PM
Would you like to get your hands on some seeds and start planning for spring?
Join in the Morton Seed Library Kickoff and Seed Swap. Share your experiences as a gardener or a seed saver. Exchange ideas about how we can grow together as a community. Discuss the traditions of seed saving, how to protect local cultivars, and how to create a positive ecological future for our families and neighbors. All are welcome to bring seeds to contribute, but this is not necessary for attendance, there will be seeds for all!
Morton Library will celebrate the Seed Library kick off with a communal hot cider toast for the “germination” of our new initiative. Ken Greene, seed library pioneer and co-founder of the Hudson Valley Seed Company, will be on hand to talk about the importance of seed libraries, seed saving, and the need for protecting our valuable food source. Ken says, “A handful of seeds reaches many people.”
We hope with your experience, your curiosity, and your inspiration, Morton Seed Library will become the place where our community can get free, locally adapted seeds, have community seed swaps, and enjoy hands-on workshops.
This will be a grand celebration. And, we are giving away seeds! Refreshments and homemade snacks will be served.
