To Be So Confin'd: Complexities of Slavery in 18th Century New York

Date/Time

Sep 28, 2019
01:00 PM until 02:00 PM

Description

Join Donald Hyman and Frederick Jones as they explore the difficult but important subject of slavery in the State of New York. Few people realize that at one time, New York was the second largest slave-holding state. Taking on personas of real-life slaves from Albany, Hyman and Jones will address what it was like to be a slave and what the concept of freedom was like in an era of the American Revolution and the immediate period afterwards.
