2018 F. W. VANDERBILT GARDEN FORMAL TEA The Vanderbilt Garden Association is proud to announce that our 5th annual garden tea will be held on September 9, 2018 from 2pm to 4pm in the beautiful formal gardens of the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site in Hyde Park, NY. This year we will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage movement. It will feature a selection of teas from Harney and Sons, tea sandwiches, scones, cupcakes, and more. The Botticelli Players will provide live music and Susan Goodier, Ph.D., coauthor of the book Women Will Vote and author of No Votes for Women: The New York State Anti-Suffrage Movement, will be our guest speaker this year. Her books will be available for purchase and signing. Once again, this year beautiful and whimsical Hudson Valley Hatter (formerly Toucan Hats) will be available at the tea for viewing and purchasing. The event will take place under a tent in the Vanderbilt Gardens (if heavy rain is in the forecast, the event will be moved to the Wallace Center at the Roosevelt Library). Parking will be at the main visitor’s center and there is a moderate walk to the gardens. Handicap access is available by pre-arrangement. Would you consider wearing period clothing (circa early 1900s), party garden wear or even a fancy hat? The F.W. Vanderbilt Garden Association is an all-volunteer group. All funds raised by the tea will be used to help rehabilitate and maintain the gardens. After the tea, take a stroll through our beautiful gardens.
