Schaff Yoga Therapy’s 40-hour Warm Water Yoga Training Program is registered with International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and is recognized by the Arthritis Foundation as a recommended therapeutic modality. It takes place in Rhinebeck, New York from November 2nd – November 9th. Space is limited to 12 participants. This is the only Warm Water Yoga Teacher Training Program we are offering this year.
Led by IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist Terry Roth Schaff, this training program teaches you how to make yoga accessible to people with physical and neurological conditions. It is designed to help improve balance, range of motion, coordination and mobility while cultivating a peaceful state of mind. You learn yoga poses and sequences in the water that increase cardio-vascular circulation, open up restricted joints, stretch tight muscles and strengthen weak ones, and breath work and relaxation exercises to soothe the nervous system, while helping the participants to feel grounded, rejuvenated, and refreshed. Terry takes you through the steps of setting up a Warm Water Yoga program in your community.
For certification you must already hold a 200-hour certification as a yoga instructor, with a minimum of three years teaching experience and at least 450 yoga teaching hours. We also ask that you have completed CPR within the last 12 months and be a confident and experienced swimmer. Special permission to participate in this program may be given on an individual basis to medical professionals and individuals with a serious interest in developing a water yoga practice.
