Eagle Scout

Feb. 6: Learn about eagles — and maybe even spot one — at the sixth annual Hudson River Eaglefest, held at Croton Point Park. Take an eagle exploration bus tour, listen to tales told by local storyteller Jonathan Kruk, and attend presentations about eagles and other birds of prey. This celebration of the bald eagles’ recent return to the Valley takes place in heated tents, so the festivities will go on, rain (snow) or shine. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Admittance is free, but fees will be charged for some activities. • Croton Point Ave., Croton-on-Hudson. 845-762-2912, ext. 110 or www.teatown.org

Furry Fun

Feb. 20: Children see and touch real animal skins and bones at the Furry Tales and Touchables event presented by the New York State Museum. Kids from ages four to six can listen to a storybook reading while examining and learning about various plants and animals. 11 a.m. Meet at the museum’s Discovery Place area. • Madison Ave., Albany. 518-474-5877 or www.nysm.nysed.gov

For the Birds

Feb. 13: Based in part on the Caldecott Honor children’s book Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, Pigeon Party! follows the hilarious adventures of an inquisitive little bird created by writer and animator Mo Willems. The stage show, which comes to the Egg this month, features original music and teaches young children practical life lessons in a fun and humorous way. Formerly a writer for Sesame Street (he picked up six Emmys while there), Willems’s other featured best-sellers include The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog and The Pigeon Has Feelings, Too. 11 a.m. $14. • Empire State Plaza, Albany. 518-473-1845 or www.theegg.org
