Hudson Valley Magazine Takes the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

We graciously accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

By now, you’ve heard of the Ice Bucket Challenge, a social media-based campaign that aims to raise awareness for ALS (more commonly known as Lou Gherig’s Disease). Essentially, when you’ve been challenged, you have 24 hours to pour ice water on yourself — or donate $100 to support ALS research.

The challenge was actually created by 30-year-old Yonkers native — and ALS patient — Pat Quinn. (Our friends at our sister publication, Westchester Magazine, details Quinn’s story and how he came up with the challenge here.)

So when our own Mike Martinelli was challenged, we sprung into action. (We’re supportive like that.) Watch the video below:

While dumping a dozen buckets worth of ice water on our Director of New Media felt pretty satisfying (it’s for a good cause!), we’re also donating to ALS research.

Mike challenged our sister Today Media publications Westchester Magazine, Delaware Today, and Main Line Today, in addition to some of our pals at fellow CRMA pubs (we’re looking at you, Gary Whitacker of 417 Magazine and Paul Byrne of Okanagan Life Magazine).

You all have 24 hours to complete the challenge, or donate $100 to ALS. Happy icing!
