The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, located in Peekskill, NY, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts and education organization dedicated to enriching our understanding of and exposure to contemporary art. HVCCA operates a 12,000 square foot exhibition space and is the primary sponsor of the Peekskill Project.

Featured are artists who prominently integrate words in their works. The exhibition includes artists of renown as well as those just emerging onto the art stage as: Beatrice Coron, Dylan Graham (Netherlands), Ann Hamilton (US 1999 Venice Biennale artist), John Mellencamp, Jeffrey Gibson, Laura Kimpton (SLS Miami, Burning Man, California) and Robert Indiana.
Writing the Walls II, brings together visual art and the written word, poets and prose writers who voice their reflections on selected works. This project is under the directorship of Mara Mills and is supported by NYSCA.

How to Promote Your Art: Word Artist Panel III: Moderated by Marc Straus, Co-Founder, HVCCA; Owner, Marc Straus LLC, and including artists Theilking and Brunett (University of Wisconsin), Lance Johnson, Mati Bracha, Basha Ruth Nelson, Jean-Marie Martin, Nicolae Golici, Carla Rae, Beatrice Coron and Tom Smith.
Writing the Walls Performance and Readings: Poets Donna Barkman, Ruth Handel, Alicia Morgan, Robert Miss and others will read their works with the art that inspired them as a backdrop.
Threads: the Story of Our Lives

This exhibition brings established and emerging, local and international artists to Peekskill to exhibit as well as to teach in the schools and to interact with the community. This exhibition will be accompanied by performances and special events.
Artists in ‘Threads’ are:
Remy Jungerman from Surinam and the Netherlands; Rune Olsen, Norway; Faith Ringgold, Elisa Pritzger, Argentina; Kristjane Gudmundsson, Iceland; Cal Lane; Peter Bynam; Barbara Korman; and Liz Quisgard.
Hours: 11-5pm Fridays, Noon-6pm Saturdays and Sundays, and by Appointment
