Open beginning April 3, the Hudson Valley museum kicks off the season with a psychedelic collection that showcases the 1960s.

Grab your platform shoes and flower-print pants: We’re going to 1960s San Francisco. Starting April 3, the Museum at Bethel Woods is open again to the public, kicking off the 2021 season with Lights, Color, Fashion: Psychedelic Posters and Patterns of 1960s San Francisco.

In this exhibit by collector Gary Westford, visitors can stroll the halls and view vivid rock posters and fashions from 1964 to 1972. “Big Five” poster artists Victor Moscoso, Rick Griffin, Wes Wilson, Stanley Mouse, and Alton Kelly will be on display. Mannequins will be decked out in their ’60s best throughout the exhibit. There’s even a black-light room where the flamboyant, vibrant posters come to life and glow in the darkness. A stunning light show by Bill Ham, a renowned San Francisco light artist, will complement the exhibit.

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is happy to be providing people with the connection, culture, and experiences they crave, says Emily Casey, marketing director. “Educators, teachers, and even parents are craving a little change of pace and stimulation,” she says.

After strolling through the special exhibit, visitors can experience “Meet Me at Woodstock,” an augmented reality tour of the 1969 Woodstock festival.
