Bethel Woods Center for the Arts Launches Upscale Camping Experience

At the site of the original 1969 Woodstock festival, a new state-of-the-art campground will be available for the 2024 season.

Known for hosting the iconic 1969 Woodstock festival, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is a historical pillar of the American music scene. From summer concerts to performing arts programming, the venue has always been committed to building upon its rich history of peace and music. Now, a new experience has been unveiled for the upcoming 2024 outdoor concert season that includes a state-of-the-art campground and glamping facilities.

Bethel Woods is among the first venue of its kind to offer campground facilities of this caliber, which include a spectrum of options ranging from basic campsite amenities to unparalleled glamping experiences. However, the Sullivan County destination is setting itself apart from other trendy glamping spots by fusing top-tier outdoor hospitality with its existing programming and expansive musical lineup.

Camping experiences can be added on to any Bethel Woods concert ticket to elevate the guest experience and provide visitors with an opportunity to immerse themselves in nature while enjoying live music performances. In addition to live entertainment, the campground also promises an array of unique activities that channel the energy of the ’60s festival, including morning yoga, sound baths, evening drum circles, and campfire hootenannies.

“Given the unique legacy of the property, and the expansive 1,800 acres surrounding the Center’s historic footprint, we’re thrilled to be one of the first venues in the country to offer an outdoor getaway that blends our rich history and picturesque scenery with live music—further elevating the experience here,” says Eric Frances, CEO of Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. “With this new offering, luxury travelers and outdoor enthusiasts alike now have an opportunity to engross themselves in both nature and music against the beautiful backdrop of the Sullivan Catskills.”

As far as facilities are concerned, guests will be able purchase reservations as an add-on to admission of any concert or event at Bethel Woods starting with the 2024 concert season. In-venue glamping offers three different levels of luxury with an option for party sizes between one and six guests. Each glamping tent is complete with bedding, furniture, one full bath and shower, Wi-Fi, electricity, a portable heater, outdoor deck seating, and other deluxe amenities. These luxury bedrooms are located near the amphitheater with stunning views of the campus and surrounding landscape. Additionally, glamping guests are a short five-minute walk to the Main Stage Pavilion, and they receive complimentary access to the museum during their stay.

For tent-only camping, guests can bring their own tent that fits within a spacious grass site near the amphitheater. Each reservation includes up to four guests per site, with additional guest passes available for purchase, and access to nearby portable toilets, hand washing stations, and showers. RV and car camping are available at sites located less than half a mile from the pavilion off Best Road, and shuttles are provided for transportation to the venue.

RV packages differ based on size and accommodations, with the option for premier or primitive camping. While the premier package includes a gravel pad, 50-amp electric hookup, water, and access to one sewer pump, the primitive package includes parking on a grass location that is better suited for larger vehicles. Both packages also include access to nearby restrooms and free shower facilities. Standard car camping sites allow one vehicle per site and include access to nearby portable toilets, hand washing stations, and free showers.

Bethel Woods’ new camping experience provides visitors with the opportunity to experience summer music festivals like never before as they sleep among the aura of Woodstock. “From pitching your own tent to unwinding in our luxury glamping facilities, and with a broad range of outdoor activities, the campground ensures there’s a little something for everyone,” adds Frances.
