The Gluten Free Bakery

Try: Buckwheat bread

While many eateries in the Valley include a handful of gluten free dishes on their menus nowadays, it’s rare to find one that bases its entire concept around gluten free eating. Enter The Gluten Free Bakery. Started by the founders of Our Daily Bread in Chatham, the bakery relaunched in 2012 as a dedicated gluten free facility. Nowadays, it uses alternative flours and grains to prepare loaves and sweets that are just as delectable as their gluten containing counterparts. The Buckwheat loaf, for instance, is made from New York State grown and milled buckwheat. One taste and you’d never know never know it’s 100 percent wheat flour-free.

Pieconic

Try: Apple hand pies

Located inside Main St. Goodness in Chatham, Pieconic is a wonderland for pie aficionados. The hand wrought pies, muffins, and pastries have an old world charm to them, but don’t let that stop you from diving into a slice or two. Eat local with the Crown Maple Pecan Pie, made with Crown Maple syrup, or the Freebird Chicken Pot Pie, packed with heritage chicken from the Hudson Valley. In a hurry? The too cute apple hand pies are optimal for grab and go snacking.
