Peace, love, and cupcakes — the recipe for happiness? If you’ve tried Peace, Love & Cupcakes’s tiny treats, you might agree. The new cupcakery opened in June and has already gained a fan base for its closet-sized storefront along the village’s Tinker Street. While they’re more petite than the average cupcake, these cakes are dense with flavor, surprisingly filling, and frosted high enough that you can’t take a bite without having frosting on your nose (cute little spoons are provided). In true Woodstock fashion, each treat pays homage to a great musician or band: Experience the Jimi Hendrix, made of triple-shot espresso cake topped with mocha buttercream; the Dylan is a moist carrot cake sweetened with cream cheese frosting. (Fun fact: The shop is located across the street from a former café where both musicians performed.) Owner/baker Janice Hardgrove-Kollar is a musician herself (in addition to a prize-winning baker), known around town as a vocalist for the funky rock band Dharma Bums and a folk trio aptly named the Cupcakes.
