Hawk Meadow Montessori School (HMMS) is a vibrant and growing alternative educational institution that provides a structured yet flexible environment in which young minds learn to soar while young hearts are taught tolerance, empathy and the social skills that last a lifetime.
Hawk Meadow offers each child an individualized education. Each child has the freedom to choose the order of his or her activities within a well-organized, structured environment. The teachers ensure that the children visit all of the following curriculum areas: Math, Language, Science, Art, Geography, Sensorial, Practical Life, Music, Spanish and Chinese. Our elementary students receive instruction in physical activities including golf, tennis and skiing.
HMMS offers programs for children ages 18 months old through middle school. All of our head teachers, and many of our assistant teachers, are trained in Montessori instruction and philosophy. Although we are a relatively new business, we offer our 90-plus students 100 years of experience in Montessori education.
Montessori students benefit from a holistic education that covers all academics as well as grace and courtesy and life skills. We teach our students to be respectful to each other, their teachers and the environment. From a young age, we give them the language to express their needs, and work with them to help solve problems in a diplomatic fashion. Our upper elementary students are involved in a Montessori Model United Nations conference in New York City, which helps shape them into young diplomats and advocates for peace.
