Warwick has always been a town that centers around the harvest. It is home to the best apple picking in the state and one of the most extensive wine regions in the Valley. The peak of apple season is ushered in each year with the enormous apple festival that draws more than 30,000 people from around the Valley and across state lines. The village presents its best self to the outside world in this open house of sorts. After the crowds disperse, locals are able to bask in their little private paradise happily undisturbed.

Warwick manages to remain insulated and preserve its small town character by keeping hectic big business out and allowing its residents to enjoy the ideal multitude of slower pleasures. The small village itself has outstanding restaurants, like The Grange, where you can taste the fresh ingredients of the surrounding farmland, and bars like Eddie’s Roadhouse, where you can catch up on town gossip over a frothy craft beer. For family activities, there’s the Warwick Drive-in Movie Theatre, an array of hiking and biking opportunities, and of course the various events the orchards and wineries host.

Families looking to settle in town can rest assured their children will be getting a solid education at the Warwick Valley Central School District. The AP participation rate for high school students is 49 percent, with 80 percent of those passing. The housing market is somewhat thin, but with enough diligence, a charming three-bedroom, two-bath Colonial near the town center can be had for a bit over median.
