“Restoring her smile was as rewarding as seeing her first look into the mirror,” recalls Dr. Thomas Williams of Dedicated Dental in Sparkill. His 57 year old patient who suffered a traumatic injury as a teenager had a failing front bridge. Speech and pronunciation were important to this local actor, so a removable denture was not her best alternative. With the aid of cosmetic imaging and careful examination of her bone, Dr. Williams, together with his patient, chose a combined treatment of implants, crowns and veneers. For the fist time in over 20 years, she can smile, eat and perform with confidence!

Dr. Williams lectures for a world renowned manufacturer on his techniques using zirconia based crowns and restorations to create a natural smile. “I use a computer-assisted scanner to fabricate a metal free structure that is then overlayed with porcelain. These restorations mimic the way light passes through a natural tooth and also removes the dark lines often seen at the gum line with traditional crowns. This is extremely important in achieving natural results while eliminating metal related allergies to the surrounding tissue and this results in improved gum health.”
Another state-of the-art resource is denture stabilization. With 2-4 implants, a teetering denture that rests only on the gum and bone can now be secured allowing the opportunity to enjoy eating and speaking with assurance. Using additional implants can transform regular dentures into non-removable, implant retained dentures. “These are life changing procedures for our denture patients,” Dr. Williams reports.
Dr. Williams also treats patients who suffer from the pain and damage of chronic teeth clenching and grinding, and those with migraines. Prior to his dental education, Dr. Williams was a dental laboratory technician and still performs most lab functions personally. He attended the University of Rhode Island, earned his DMD from Farleigh Dickinson University and regularly participates in continuing education programs.
