“Most of my patients have multiple medical problems and I try to look at the whole patient and not just the symptoms,” says internist Dr. Anne Mullin. In private practice in Cornwall since 1997, Dr. Mullin recently joined Horizon Family Medical Group and is affiliated with St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY. “I work with my patients to maintain their function so they can keep going in their social and physical life and not get overwhelmed by their medical illnesses.” Dr. Mullin specializes in primary care issues and women’s health. “My patients range in age from 18 to 100 years of age. I see a lot of the local people—my neighbors, my children’s former teachers,” says Dr. Mullin who has two grown children. A resident of Cornwall for twenty years, Dr. Mullin is a doctor of the community, for the community. “I have long term relationships with my patients, and see them through acute as well as chronic medical illnesses.” Dr. Mullin’s patients receive a full range of preventative care and risk assessment as well as treatment for common ailments like diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, arthritis and heart disease. “I give guidance on weight loss and smoking cessation and provide preventative care like vaccinations for flu, pneumonia, tetanus and shingles. I also do routine screening for breast cancer, cervical cancer, colon cancer, osteoporosis, and sexually transmitted diseases,” Dr. Mullin says. Highly trained and experienced, Dr. Mullin is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a graduate of New York Medical College where she served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. She completed her residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. “I urge people to have a basic medical exam including a check of blood pressure every one to two years as well as screening for cholesterol and diabetes,” says Dr. Mullin.
