“My patients want to feel better about themselves and be more confident,” says Dr. Sandra Sacks, who specializes in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for Crystal Run Healthcare. Most of Dr. Sacks’ patients are women from 18 to 60 years of age who come to her because they want to restore what they once had prior to childbirth, major changes in their weight, the aging process or cancer surgery.
Dr. Sacks has a particular interest in surgery of the breast, body contouring and facial aesthetics, including surgical and non-surgical procedures. “A large part of my practice is reconstruction due to cancer surgery. I restore the female form which helps women deal with the sense of loss they feel when they’ve had a mastectomy,” says Dr. Sacks. “As a female, I have a good perspective on how women feel about their cosmetic issues and an understanding of their goals.”
In addition to caring and compassionate treatment, Dr. Sacks offers excellent credentials. She received her Medical Degree from New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY and completed her General Surgery training at North Shore University Hospital; her Residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Nassau University Medical Center and a Fellowship in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. She is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery and an Active Member in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
With the increased success of weight loss attributed to bariatric surgery, Dr. Sacks sees many patients who have undergone lap band or gastric bypass procedures. “Some patients lose 100 pounds and are left with extra skin, especially in the abdomen. I’m able to contour their bodies and remove that excess skin.” Patients typically stay in the hospital for one to two days and finish their recovery at home. “My patients start getting back to their daily routines, feeling less tired and finding it easier to move around after surgery. “The greatest satisfaction for me,” says Dr. Sacks, “is when my patients return for their postoperative visit beaming with confidence and energy having been given another chance to enjoy life.”
Dr. Sacks also performs liposuction for patients with problem areas, such as “love handles,” and abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck” to eliminate unsightly bulges common in women who have had multiple pregnancies.
