HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley® is a multi-campus health care system. It includes the Benedictine Hospital, Kingston Hospital, Margaretville Hospital, Mountainside Residential Care Center and Woodland Pond at New Paltz. Kingston Hospital was founded in 1894 and has been providing patient-focused, non-profit care ever since.
HealthAlliance consolidated two separate emergency departments at its Benedictine and Kingston Hospital campuses into one state-of-the-art 35-bed unit at Kingston Hospital in April of 2010. The new department earned an Honorable Mention in 2011 from the Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association for its Quality and Patient Safety Award for its ambitious “30 Minute Arrival to Provider” program, which seeks to continually improve wait times.
The Emergency Department features the only accredited Chest Pain Center in the Hudson Valley, along with a certified Stroke Center, a 64-slice CT scanner, and a Fast Track unit to speed up wait times for patients with minor ailments.
In November of 2011, Kingston Hospital earned a “Gold Seal of Approval” from The Joint Commission by demonstrating continued compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art national standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals. The accreditation lasts for three years.
The hospital has received a perfect rating from Consumer Reports for preventing central-line infections in its Intensive Care Unit.
The state-of-the-art Family Birth Place at the Kingston Hospital Campus offers a comfortable environment with beautiful views of the Catskill Mountains making the experience even more special.
A new Hyperbaric Oxygen Center is now offered at the Kingston Hospital Campus. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) is an essential part of some chronic wound treatment plans. The chamber resembles a reclining bed inside a large clear acrylic shell. While undergoing treatment the options of listening to music or watching a movie is available. HBO therapy is part of the new Wound Healing Center, which helps patients recover from wounds that do not heal in six to eight weeks with traditional methods.
The Diabetes Education Center has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association for meeting its high educational standards and for offering quality self-management diabetes education. The Center is committed to providing the skills and knowledge that are necessary to manage diabetes from day to day to live a healthy life free from complications.
