“When you visit your dentist, are you greeted by a kind and caring staff?” asks Julie L. Abrahamson, DDS, PLLC, a dentist practicing in Fishkill. “It’s important to me that my patients enjoy their experience from the moment they walk through our door.”

The door to Dr. Abrahamson’s office has been opening to friendly faces for over 30 years, beginning under the practice of her father, Barry D. Abrahamson, DDS. He retired in 2001, but several of his longtime staff members have stayed on as familiar faces to the patients that continue their care under Dr. Julie Abrahamson.

Dr. Abrahamson has lived in or near the Hudson Valley for decades, even attending Vassar College for her undergraduate degree, followed by the NYU College of Dentistry in New York City for her DDS. After serving as resident dentist at the FDR Veterans Administration Hospital in Montrose, she returned to the NYU College of Dentistry in the position of Clinical Associate Professor, teaching third- and fourth-year dental students.

Pursuing a desire to continue teaching, Dr. Abrahamson welcomes Vassar College students who are considering going to dental school to spend time doing field work in the office.

One of Dr. Abrahamson’s most promising NYU College of Dentistry students, Nicole F. Cohn, DDS, joined her practice in November 2007 as an associate. Dr. Cohn lives locally and has been practicing general dentistry in the Hudson Valley region for the past several years. She takes great pride in the treatment that she provides. She loves to be able to help keep her patients healthy and give them the beautiful smiles they’ve always wanted. Dr. Cohn enjoys performing all phases of general dentistry, and takes a special interest in the cosmetic aspects of dentistry.

The Abrahamsons’ practice was the first in the area to use digital radiography. After introducing the technology in 1995, their staff taught other dental practices how to use it.

Dr. Abrahamson and Dr. Cohn keep current with the latest advances in dentistry through continuing education on topics such as implant prosthodontics. They are also active members of the Dutchess County Dental Society, the Ninth District Dental Society, the New York State Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
“The most rewarding feedback I hear from patients is that they have gotten over their anxiety about dental treatment since coming to our practice,” shares Dr. Abrahamson. “That means a lot to me because I put my whole heart and soul into every case.”
