“The young woman had a fractured jaw and broken teeth,” says Dr. Lawrence Gilbert. “She had been kicked in the face by a horse!” Once the woman’s jaw had healed, Dr. Gilbert of Hudson Valley Dental Care used a combination of implants, crowns and veneers to restore her smile. “Before this procedure,” Dr. Gilbert says, “She always put her hand over her mouth whenever she spoke. Now she is always smiling and gives me a hug every time she comes to the office.”

After graduating from New York University School of Dentistry in 1971, Dr. Gilbert proudly served in the United States Public Health Service, establishing a dental clinic on a Navajo Reservation in Northeastern Arizona. He has been practicing dentistry for 38 years, 36 in Orange County and he has taught cosmetic dentistry through the Aesthetic Advantage at New York University. Lawrence Gilbert, DDS is one of the founding members and currently on the board of the Empire State Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Gilbert and his staff regularly participate in Smiles for Life, using proceeds from tooth whitening to go to disadvantaged children, both locally and nationwide.
“Dentistry,” says Dr. Gilbert “has changed dramatically in the past decade, specifically in the types of material used and the technology now available.” As the field of dentistry changes, he stays abreast of the latest techniques and technologies through continuing education programs to seek out new developments and the very latest advancements is cosmetic and restorative dentistry.
