Dr. Lawrence A. Hamburg describes his Poughkeepsie-based dental practice as a cross between “the elegance of Park Avenue and the warmth of the Hudson Valley.” Located on Route 55, his state-of-the-art, 2,600 square-foot office features the latest equipment in a stylish, soothing setting. “Many of my patients say they feel like they’re walking into a spa instead of a dental office,” Hamburg says.

Dr. Hamburg, a graduate of (and former instructor at) NYU College of Dentistry, has been practicing in Dutchess County since 1983. He has continued his passion for teaching, conducting seminars for other dentists about cosmetic procedures, as well as speaking on oral cancer for the foundation he founded, Oral Cancer Awareness (Or.C.A.), and the Velscope early detection device company. Being a Stage IV survivor, he is extremely focused on the aspect of total care and prevention through dentistry. He lives locally with his wife, Anne Marie and sons, Jamie and Ryan.

His associate, Dr. Melissa Rodgers, is a 2002 Tufts graduate (where Dr. Hamburg is also a faculty member). She brings great warmth to the practice, as well as experience in all aspects of general dentistry, and has practiced at Danbury Hospital since she completed her residency.

Hudson Valley Dental Arts offers comprehensive dental care, ranging from crown and bridge procedures to porcelain veneers, dental bonding, brightening, and implant prosthetics, as well as more traditional dental procedures.
Among the variety of high-tech equipment, the office uses the intra-oral camera, creating magnified views of the teeth; digital X-rays that use a fraction of the standard X-ray dose and can be reviewed in seconds; as well as the digital panorex X-rays that offer a view of the jaws, teeth, sinus, and nasal area in one large image, which can help reveal problems ranging from impacted teeth to oral tumors; and the Velscope, which illuminates the oral cavity, and exposes cancerous and precancerous lesions. Parents especially like the child-friendly air-abrasion procedure, which can replace a scary dental drill and completes a filling in as little as two minutes, often without anesthetics.

Dr. Hamburg sums up his practice: Hudson Valley Dental Arts, where dentistry and artistry meet!
