Jan. 9: Dinosaurs! Travel back to a time when the now-extinct dinos reigned supreme. Jim West Productions brings prehistoric dwellers such as the Stegosaurus and almighty Tyrannosaurus rex to life at the Emelin Theatre. Growing up Sesame

Jan. 29-31: When Elmo Grows Up Just in time to celebrate their 40th anniversary, the Sesame Street gang makes their way to the Valley for a visit to Albany’s Palace Theatre. Elmo needs help: he can’t decide what he wants to be when he grows up — he wants to do everything! He and his pals share their dreams for the future in this colorful musical that teaches children determination, imagination, and teamwork. Jan. 9: The Aluminum Show Lifeless metal tubes are transformed into strange living creatures from an alternate universe during this unique show. Thru Feb. 28: The 34th Annual Miniature and Dollhouse Show Kids of all ages are invited to marvel at two galleries worth of dollhouses and other tiny treasures at this Historical Society of Rockland County event. Tues.-Sun. 12-4 p.m. $7, $3 under 12. Jan. 3: Puppeteer Ana Vargas performs “Shingebiss” — a Native American tale about a little duck who survives the wicked winter-maker’s wrath to become a symbol of perseverance and hope. 1 & 2:30 p.m. $10; ticket price includes admission to Miniature and Dollhouse Show. • 20 Zukor Rd., New City. 845-634-9629.

Beastly Encounter

Jan. 29-31: Beauty and the Beast Jr. Introduce a “tale as old as time” to the kiddies when Random Farms Kids’ Theater performs this Disney classic at Tarrytown Music Hall. Amid lots of music, dancing, and fun, a young woman falls in love with a beast and breaks the spell that has been cast over him and his castle.
