Oriole 9, Woodstock
One of our best places to eat breakfast in 2014: Oriole 9, Woodstock
When this eatery says they support the green movement, they really mean it. Oriole 9 is one of the four Green Restaurant Association-certified establishments in the Valley, meaning most of the produce is all-natural — and the vast majority is locally sourced.
The stellar coffee comes from a Kingston roaster, and in 2013, all the apples used were supplied by Wright’s Farms in Gardiner. Even the mushrooms in their popular Forest Mushroom dish (top left) are foraged locally. Once the mushrooms make it to the Oriole 9 kitchen, they’re baked in a cast-iron skillet with two eggs and a nice portion of pecorino cheese; the whole creation is served with a side of toast and salad — all for $12.50. The poached artichoke with scrambled eggs and truffle oil (bottom left, also $12.50) has emerged as another fan favorite, along with the goat cheese and spinach omelet ($11.50). 845-679-5763; www.oriole9.com
