is not your typical classified job listing. In fact, many people wonder whether it’s even a profession at all. But a small army of dedicated tale tellers all across the Valley is working hard to elevate this ancient art form. Now, with the rise in popularity of slice-of-life stories from the NPR show The Moth and the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, TN, attracting some 10,000 people last year, it’s clear that many people are happy to log off of Facebook, turn off their phones — and get down to some good ol’ listening.
Here, in their own words, you’ll hear some interesting tales about how these storytellers talked themselves to the top of their professions.
