Where in the Hudson Valley...?

Upper Valley residents are well-acquainted with the psychedelic sites in the area. Although nearly all who wrote knew that the bus in our June issue is happily parked on Route 23 in Greene County, they mistakenly attributed its whereabouts as being in Windham. Contest winner Jay Hochstadt of Kingston correctly says that the bus is “located in Ashland — the town just west of Windham. Many towns have their Smiths, Jones, or Browns. Ashland has their Partridges. I used to admire the bus whenever I visited the now-defunct video store across the street.” This month’s quiz — which features an ode to a horse racing legend — is on page 148. Good luck!

I pass this wonderful bus every day to go to my job at Columbia Greene Community College (yes, I drive that far). It’s located at the former Bob Dodge Chevrolet dealership. I believe that Jack “the stuntman” is the owner.

My daughter goes to SUNY Oneonta. We drive from Red Hook and pass it all the time.

My wife and I just happened to be out on a nice scenic drive yesterday and passed by that bus.

The location is close to or on the border with Windham. It definitely slows down traffic.

Corrections:

In our May story “A Real Cliff-Hanger,” we wrote that climbing guide Marty Molitoris received a permit from the Mohonk Preserve in 1995. He actually received the permit in 2005. We regret the error.

Cardiovascular disease specialist Dr. David Southren, one of the “Top Doctors” listed in our June issue, called to let us know that he is also Rockland County’s only board-certified lipidologist, with special expertise in lipidology (including cholesterol and lipid disorders) and noninvasive cardiology. Dr. Southren is affiliated with Nyack Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital.
