Eat out at Starr Place in Rhinebeck this month

The hip bistro — Rhinebeck’s newest — is making its mark on the chichi Dutchess County community. How can we tell? For one thing, diner enthusiasm has helped land the restaurant a listing in the 2009-10 version of the Zagat guide. Correspondents rave about the food (natch) but also the downstairs lounge, which offers live jazz and blues on the weekends. The grilled New York strip steak — shown here bathed in a peppercorn-cognac sauce, and accompanied by steak frites — is a menu staple. Enjoy it outdoors on their deck.

I can't believe a review of Starr Place didn't include the wine list, which were were all thrilled with. Easily the most interesting and thought out in town, and one of the best in the county. We loved it!
