With four successful restaurants in Fishkill and Newburgh — Sapore, Cafe Pitti, Cena 2000, and Il Cena’colo — it’s no surprise that Sali Hadzi’s most recent venture, Locanda, took off right away. A pizza joint with an upscale twist — perfect for these difficult economic times — Locanda has been wooing Fishkill families since 2006 with Italian favorites for lunch and dinner. The menu features classic comforts like eggplant parmigiana and fettuccine Alfredo, along with specialties like zuppa di pesce (a spicy seafood dish) and veal saltimbocca (thinly sliced veal with sage prosciutto). And, of course, there’s the pizza. Try the Lasagna Pie, with ricotta, mozzarella, sausage, and meatballs — two favorites in one dish.
