Here’s how to spend Memorial Day weekend this year

The FDR Library and Museum in Hyde Park hosts Memorial Day commemorations throughout the weekend

This Memorial Day weekend, we honor those who have served — and those we’ve lost — with parades, fireworks, and festivities all throughout the Hudson Valley. Celebrate the freedom our brothers and sisters in service have given us with historic presentations and shopping, too.

Friday, May 22-Monday, May 25

Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum Memorial Day Weekend Events
In honor of America’s veterans, the FDR museum hosts its annual USO show on Friday at 7 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, guests can explore a recreation of a World War II encampment, as well as a display of military items. A graveside memorial service rounds off the festivities on Monday at 1:30 p.m. www.fdrlibrary.marist.edu/publicprograms/calendar.html

Woodbury Common Premium Outlets Sidewalk Sale & “Shop and Ship” Program
Who doesn’t love a good holiday sale? Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, located in Central Valley, offers extended hours for its weekend-long sidewalk sale. The shops open at 9 a.m. each day, and close at 10 p.m. (9 p.m. on Monday). Check the site for all in-store promotions, including 50% off your entire purchase (and additional 40% off clearance) at Coach.

And if you find yourself with too many bags and not enough hands to carry them, you can take advantage of the new “Shop and Ship” program: simply have your in-store purchases shipped to your desired location via the service Shipping Station. Shipping Station also offers a 25% discount on packaging services. www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=7
